A District 7910 sponsored International Service project in collaboration with D-7910 and Guatemala Rotary Clubs

Date: March 23 -30, 2019
In cooperation with Helps International, Inc., volunteer Rotarians will install stoves in homes where currently an open fire in the center of the house is used for cooking. This practice predisposes the residents to respiratory diseases, burn injuries, and increased use of wood for cooking.  The stove will improve the ventilation, prevent injuries, and will decrease wood consumption by at least 50%. We are seeking volunteer Rotarians from our Club and District 7910 to join the Westborough Rotary Club in this endeavor.
The Onil Stove construction is described in a brief video which you can watch by using the following link:  https://vimeo.com/42504235    For detailed information please visit:    www.helpsintl.org

Requirements to participate:
  • Request funds from your club. Estimated cost is $1800 – 2000 to cover airfare, local transportation, meals, and hotel accommodations.
  • Able to lift 25-pound cinder blocks.
  • Embrace the project as a unique cultural opportunity to team up with Guatemalan Rotarians and improve the quality of life of rural Guatemalan people.
To complete our travel plans and ensure that we have adequate staff we need your commitment by November 2nd, 2018. Interested or have questions? Please contact Jim O’Connor at Jbo72149@gmail.com.
