Georgi exchanged flags with President Bryan then spoke of his beautiful country he wanted to speak of his experiences with Interact and Rotaract but couldn't because of time constraints. Marianne O’ConnorThis weeks speaker Marianne O’Connor March 22, 2010 — With the selection of Marianne O’Connor, the Westborough School Committee chose a familiar face to lead the school district after the retirement of current superintendent Anne Towle this summer. My  biggest challenge is to think outside the box, listen to all suggestions and ideas that would enable educators to have the resources to support to provide a quality education for students. We will need to look at every dollar spent to make sure that the money is being used in the best interest of our students. Communication and trust among all stakeholders in making the best decisions given the information and financial resources available. http://www.wickedlocal.com/westborough/news/education/x231951918/A-Q-and-A-with-Marianne-O-Connor

Special Olympics/Boston Marathon
Collection On Monday April 19th, District 7910 Rotary Clubs along the Boston Marathon route will continue a tradition of collecting donations for Special Olympics Massachusetts from spectators of the marathon. This year Jeff Tucker was appointed to coordinate our efforts in Newton. The Newton Rotary Club is particularly well positioned to welcome the crowds because of the width of the route along route 30 for crowds to gather. "Heartbreak Hill" is also a popular spot along the route to cheer on the runners.

I'm looking to groups outside of Rotary Clubs, who may have a vested interest in ensuring the success of the collection and supporting the achievements of Special Olympians, to help us by simply holding a collection can and asking for donations. We will provide a convenient meeting place in Newton for before and after the marathon to collect supplies in order to facilitate the collection. The only requirements is the person have a friendly smile! People donating their time are welcome to stay as long as they like, but do not need to commit to be there for the entire duration. Jeff Tucker, Direct Line 617-340-1263, Cell 978-857-0619

For over 20 years, District 7910 has undertaken to sponsor a fund drive on Patriot's Day for Special Olympics. The main participants have been the clubs which are located directly along the race route, and those towns are, Framingham, Natick. Wellesley, Newton, and Brookline. In order to perform this duty, each of those clubs are asked to provide volunteers, who will solicit donations, during the hour or so before the runners are due to pass by their location. In order to do this, each participating club will provide their volunteers with the necessary materials required, which consist of a Rotary collection container, a Special Olympics cap, and an identification badge..Some of the clubs work out of one selected location, while other clubs, such as Brookline, will send their collectors as far as Boston.

All donated funds will be counted by the participating clubs, and the check for the total amount made out to Special Olympics of Massachusetts, and sent to Murray Liverman of the Brookline Club.. Members of any other clubs who wish to collect, as well as to watch the marathoners, can contact Murray, who will provide them with what they need, as well as to select a collection area for them to go to. Additionally, many clubs have participated by sending club and personal contributions, as well, and we certainly welcome those donations Murray's mailing address is 7 Vaillencourt Drive , Framingham 01701, and he can also be contacted at reelive@comcast.net
